This is in response to this week's Trifextra 33 word challenge. What scares you?
What scares me is being in an accident that results in a coma; where you are fully conscious but can't respond to stimuli, living inside your head as your body slowly wastes away.
I've heard stories from comma victims that did wake, scary stuff.!
ReplyDeleteGood one!
Thanks
DeleteRead your post and immediately thought of this video by Metallica called One. It is a story-song about a soldier who was injured in a land mine accident and lost his face, arms, speech, etc. He comes out of the coma but cannot communicate with anyone until the end and then, his message is heartbreaking. Not a metal fan, per se but, this video fits your post very well, imo. :) http://youtu.be/WM8bTdBs-cw Hope the link works. Very strong post, Bud!
ReplyDeleteThat indeed is a terrifying fate.
ReplyDeleteBest reason for a living will.
DeleteAgreed! That would be awful!
ReplyDeleteNo one would hear your screams!
DeleteHorrifying!
ReplyDeleteThe lack of control would be terrifying.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us (writers) have a bit of a control freak in us. I think that's why some of our characters go off on tangents, just to show us we really have no control.
DeleteThanks for the nightmare...Yikes.
ReplyDeleteSo true. And so well put. Thanks for linking up! Voting is now open!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing more terrifying than the inability to communicate. *shiver*
ReplyDelete"living inside your head as your body slowly wastes away"
ReplyDeleteSuch a powerful description. Well done!
